Learn how to make this healthy homemade mayonnaise, by using just a few simple ingredients from your kitchen.
Today I’m sharing my super fast and easy Healthy Homemade Mayonnaise recipe. This is seriously one of my favorite “hacks” in my kitchen. By using just a couple of common ingredients you can have the most delicious and healthy mayonnaise within minutes.
I’m not sure how society ever ventured away from homemade mayonnaise because it’s really in a league of its own. Healthy Homemade Mayonnaise is smooth, creamy and light. Also you can adjust the tanginess and salt content to your preference, but for starters give the recipe below a shot and see what you think!
So for this recipe, you will need an immersion blender. An immersion blender is a really great tool to have in your kitchen because they also work great for making soup like my Creamy Roasted Pumpkin Soup!
- 1 Raw Egg
- 1 tsp vinegar or lemon juice
- 1Cup Avocado Oil
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Mustard ..
- Add 1 raw egg, followed by 1Cup Avocado Oil, 1tsp Vinegar (or lemon juice), 1/2tsp salt, and 1/2tsp mustard to a mason jar (wide mouth is best)
- Next using your immersion blender, begin blending the egg at the bottom until it becomes white and creamy. Make sure to keep your blender immersed!
- Now slowly raise the immersion blender up to incorporate the oil and other ingredients. This should take about 1 or 2 minutes.
And voila! Now you have healthy homemade mayonnaise ready to be used on a sandwich or in your favorite potato salad recipe. Options are endless!
IS IT SAFE TO USE RAW EGG?
For our family we feel comfortable using raw egg because they come from chickens here on our farm. I would definitely recommend using eggs from a local farm if you do not have chickens yourself.
HOW LONG WILL THE MAYONNAISE STAY FRESH?
I would say about 1 week. This recipe is great however when you plan to incorporate the mayonnaise into a few different meals during the week.
HOW MUCH WILL THIS RECIPE MAKE?
A little over 1 cup. Usually the perfect amount for potato salad or fresh coleslaw. If you need more you can always double the recipe.
